Life Will Never Be the Same!!

Hello everybody! I finally found some time to sit down and blog and give you an update on Sophie. She turned 9 months yesterday!! She celebrated by crawling for the first time forward. She saw me the kitchen in the morning and decided she needed to be where I was. When she reached the kitchen floor, however, she couldn't quite figure out how to deal with the more slippery surface. so she whined in frustration. The crawling still needs to get more refined with a little more coordination but, she is officially mobile now. Bryce and I spent today running around putting protective caps into all the sockets (there were a ton in our home) We also looked around and figured out what will need to go up about 3-4 feet for it to remain safe. Bryce was right when he said "Our life is never going to be the same"! At the Doctors office today for her 9 month check up she weighed 14 lbs 7 oz, 27 inches. She is definitely petite, but we all, including Sophie have battled a GI virus. Let's just say it wasn't pretty. And hers lasted a lot longer than ours. She is finally eating solids again, but suddenly cries when she has to eat her green veggies. Things are going well in Colorado though we feel like we live in Kansas. It seems like we have to drive awhile to get anywhere. Otherwise, things are going well.......

.

Sophie was helping me unpack the office. OK she really was making more of a mess but she felt included!

Above is a sequence of Sophie crawling toward me while I had the camera. The first is her up on all fours doing her baby yoga and then she got really close!

A new high chair. But like everything else that I buy for her....she hardly fits!

Finally........A new blog!

We finally made it to Colorado! The move went smoothly, most of our stuff made it here in one piece (except one lamp) and we are settling down in our new rental home. It is twice the size of our condo back in CA and I keep wandering around looking at all the space we have to put our stuff in. Needless to say from being cramped into that 900 sq ft condo with all our stuff, it is nice to have a little room to spare here. Though I have to admit that the design of the home isn't very functional. We have a big thermal gradient (a term I have now mastered thanks to Bryce the engineer!) between the upstairs and downstairs. The downstairs seems to be a few degrees cooler. Of course is easily fixed by the South facing house and plenty of sunshine that comes in. Haven't figured out what we will do when there is snow. The master bedroom has a closet that I could do cartwheels in (though I won't attempt), but it is nice to be able to find our clothes. Sophie has her own room! She probably won't really enjoy it until she is able to crawl around more. She is almost....on the verge of crawling. She has some great baby yoga positions that she does and she pulling herself up to a kneeling position. She still loves her solid food and is a really good eater, and we just added the "M" sound to her vocabulary. I'll try better to keep the blog updated more regularly now that we are here in Colorado.

I try really hard to capture on camera some of her baby yoga positions but can be really hard.

Sophie loves her bath!! Now that she is scooting around more and splashing it is hard for us to stay dry! And of course she tries to put all things in her mouth.....bathtub included!

Sophie is so close to crawling....I look forward to it with some hesitancy since I haven't "baby proofed" our home yet.
We are still using the Bumbo chair for eating...which is about to change as soon as I have time to find an appropriate high chair. She feels the need to touch everything around her. When I clean up everything seems to feel like it has crusted food on it from her having her little dirty fingers all over it.

Below are pictures taken a "OUR LAST SUPPER" in San Diego at one of our favorite restaurants called "The Chicken Pie Diner". There are some things we will miss about San Diego, this is one, Hodad's is another.
