1 Year well Check

I thought that I would let everyone know that we had Sophie's one year well check. She was 29 1/2 (55%) and 17 lbs 10 oz (4%). The way Bryce and I figure she'll be 15-16 months before we can turn her around in her car seat. Bummer for me because it would be easier to throw her crackers if she was facing the other way. (he he) We also had her immunizations, but just like last time she was happy as a clam by the time we were on our way home. I just want you to know that it is really hard to find clothes for a baby who has this discrepancy in height and weight. The thing were most proud of though is that we FINALLY got her in #3 diapers. It's the small things that we are proud of most. I am also trying to get her off baby food.....and its going very slowly. She still loves her purees, hated any of the third foods I gave her, so we are trying just table food with an occasional puree for nutrition sake. Since I am a first time parent if anybody has any suggestions about that or how to stop her from throwing her food across the kitchen let me know. (I'm especially tired of cleaning up the walls). Anyway, that is all that is new for now. Later.

Sophie was playing with her brush and then seem to have lost it.......I wonder where??

Uncle Jeff and Sophie on mother's day. She loves to be on anyone's shoulders...except maybe Grandpa Hatch since she couldn't figure out how to hold on to his hair (he doesn't have any)

Sophie and dad playing musical chairs. Sophie just kept going around and around.

ONE YEAR OLD!!

I can't believe how time goes by so fast. Sophie turned ONE on May 19th. I'm sorry that it has taken so long to do a blog....it is hard to find time to sit down and do it when I'm chasing a little body all over the place. Sophie is definitely a "busy body". She has mastered going up and down the stairs, but of course only when mom is around supervising. She loves her stuffed "bear" literally by holding it up to the side of her neck and making an "ohhhhhhh" sound. (that's my favorite!) She is certainly becoming our little chatterbox. Word come out and with some translation we might get it like "duct" is duck, "butt...n" is button, "uice" is juice, "baf" is bath. She always tries to mimic our words and it usually starts with a "b" sound. She LOVES her books and can spend a long time turning pages and is getting even better with her fine motor control (there's the PT in me) She is cruising around, can stand a few seconds and tries to all sorts of acrobatics on her changing table. She isn't quite walking yet but it is just a matter of time. We had a small get together for a B-day party on the Saturday before her birthday (it was on a tues). She loved eating cake, and she really liked her balloons and the presents she got. I posted a few pics. The best present though is for me to start weaning her. She has gotten pretty proficient at drinking from a straw and I tried whole milk with her and she like everything else I giver her just ate/drank it without even a flinch. I should metion that we haven't gone to the MD yet...that is Friday. I'll let you know what happens. Enjoy the pics!! Forgive me if anything doesn't make sense, I don't have a brain anymore!!

Sophie goes out to our patio and plays with the rocks. She likes to put them in the cup and is pretty pleased with herself when she does. Oh I should mention she like to taste them before she puts them in the cup. What's new!!

These were taken on May 19th in the AM (her birthday). She always is happy in the morning and loves to hang out by "her" window.

Sophie on the swing on her B-day. We went up to the park near Grandma's. She likes to swing and go down the slide.

The following pics are her at her B-day party.

Eating Cake. I made a butterfly cupcake cake!!

Trying to share cake with mom!

Grandpa and Nana (Carpenter) gave her a musical tea set. She wasn't quite sure how to open it!

11 MONTHS!

Sophie is almost 1 yr old. She just turned 11 months and now the pressure is on to figure out what kind of party we will throw for her 1st Birthday. (I'm not much of a party planner). We have been spending a lot of time going on walks because the weather has been wonderful. She still loves to swing...unless there is another kiddo present and then we just stare and watch other kids playing. I would describe Sophie as observant and likes to take in everything. Anyway, here are a few pics.

Sophie LOVES to play with her books. She can spend a long time playing with them..allowing me to get stuff done
Sophie has learned to raise objects in front of her face.. we say "Where's Sophie?" and then she drops them and we say "There she is" ....we always get big smiles. In this case we were using a new shirt (still on the hanger)... she also uses books, blankets, stuffed animals, ect...

I let Sophie eat cereal with her fingers....it's a little messy:
