Life Is FUN!

Hello Everyone! I just thought that I would share some wonderful things Sophie has learned to do....Some people would call it progress.....I would call it "help me before I pull every hair out of my head". Sophie is now entering what experts call "the toddler years" and it is becoming evident right before my eyes. For instance, the fussing and crying when we won't let her out into the garage just to stare and point at the "broom" that she is totally obsessed about. I figure I better go buy a play broom so she can obsess about it in the house. (shoot...it would be even better if she could use it..Hehe) She is now able to "open" things like cupboards. And since she seems to be busy rearranging all sorts of things in her room and elsewhere I find things all over the house in the strangest places. (At least now she takes things from one place to another instead of just throwing it on the floor) Yesterday, there was her chapstick in a bowl in one of the cupboards of the kitchen as well as few of her animal magnets from the fridge. I know you are all thinking that we need to "childproof" and we are going to, we just haven't had time because we finally found a house and have been dealing with that.

She has figured out what lights are and what "on" and "off" means and also for my clock radio. She can turn it on so that music is playing and then starts "dancing" by just tilting her head side to side. She is walking now....if that is what you want to call it...I think it more of a side to side "toddle". She is full of bumps and bruises from banging into walls. I was thinking the other day I'm glad that we all learn to walk when we are that small, because if we were adults learning to walk then our bums would sure be a lot sorer. (from falling a greater distance) Anyway, I hope to keep you informed of our impending challenges with our "toddler". We look forward to moving into our home, probably in September sometime.




Sophie now 14 months old, still chews on her hand/fingers and toes. I have actually seen her rub her eye with her toe when she is tired.

Above is her dirtly clothes bin, full of books, clean clothes (underneath the books) and other objects including shoes, lotion bottles, ect.... She loves to rearrange.

Sophie has become good at building....the record is 6 blocks. She tends to knock them over as she is getting up, moving around so this was an accomplishment.

Cousin Austin came to visit. He wasn't happy at this moment because I think he didn't have his toy to chew on. Sophie can say something like "autin" now. (I might add that she can say some form of most of our family names except Aunt "Mandy" ...sorry sis!)

Finally...an Update!

Sorry it has been so long. We just finished a busy month of June and finished the 4th of July weekend. Sophie took a couple weeks of swimming lessons..she liked them but was so tired by the end because they took place right in the middle of her morning nap. She was out of sorts for awhile but has since recovered....Oh.. only to show signs of separation anxiety at bedtime. We are working it out slowly. She is only taking a few steps....I finally bought her some shoes so she could get used to wearing them on her feet. (up to now I just haven't bothered-socks seemed just fine) She is saying lots of new words and now knows that the front door is "bye bye". She has learned to buckle herself into her highchair after we put her in it, which I thought was pretty smart of her. And she loves to "pusss" things around...she gets upset if I don't let her push the store cart around (instead of having her sit in it like most kids) We compromise, she sits for awhile while I shop then I will let her push for a few minutes.

We had a good 4th of July weekend. We had grandma and grandpa over on the 3rd because the golf course we live on had a fireworks display. We walked down and sat in some chairs, yards from the lauch site. It was pretty loud, but very pretty fireworks. Saturday we went to a church picnic. Sophie loves to be outside, crawling and climbing (up the slides). We had a lot of fun. Hopefully I won't wait too long until my next blog this time.

Sophie loves to stop put her head down and look between her legs. It's really funny when she has her sippy cup/straw hanging out of her mouth.


Swimming lessons were fun. She loves the kickboard because we would go around the "lazy river" and sing "moterboat, moterboat go so slow...moterboat motorboat go so fast, motorboat, moterboat step on the gas" and do a turn in the water. She knows how to say "gas" now at the end.


Sophie pushes her highchair around our living room, it's so hard because it is so bulky so we finally got her a toy she could push....."pusss"

1 Year well Check

I thought that I would let everyone know that we had Sophie's one year well check. She was 29 1/2 (55%) and 17 lbs 10 oz (4%). The way Bryce and I figure she'll be 15-16 months before we can turn her around in her car seat. Bummer for me because it would be easier to throw her crackers if she was facing the other way. (he he) We also had her immunizations, but just like last time she was happy as a clam by the time we were on our way home. I just want you to know that it is really hard to find clothes for a baby who has this discrepancy in height and weight. The thing were most proud of though is that we FINALLY got her in #3 diapers. It's the small things that we are proud of most. I am also trying to get her off baby food.....and its going very slowly. She still loves her purees, hated any of the third foods I gave her, so we are trying just table food with an occasional puree for nutrition sake. Since I am a first time parent if anybody has any suggestions about that or how to stop her from throwing her food across the kitchen let me know. (I'm especially tired of cleaning up the walls). Anyway, that is all that is new for now. Later.

Sophie was playing with her brush and then seem to have lost it.......I wonder where??
